When she grows up...

Addie may just be a teacher.

This is how my little girl helps out her mommy at home.
Thursday night while watching tv, I was working on my flash card rings for my students, Addie said she wanted to help me.  You can call it child labor, but this kindergarten teacher calls it fine motor skills and number review.

Happy Birthday Papa Bear!

We celebrated "Papa Bear's" , as Addie calls him sometimes, birthday last weekend.  We drank, ate strawberry cake, and had a merry ole time as a growing family of eight soon to be nine with the addition of Little Hayden Primm.  I am so thankful to celebrate 61 years of memories and good times with my dad.  I hope all of your birthday wishes came true!  We love you bunches daddy.

Look who is 1/2 a year old...

We have made it to the six month mark with this little fella (this is Addie's pet name) and he still appears to be loving life.  This month Drew's eating has just amazed us.  He can easily consume three jars of baby food and his cereal a day.  When we sit at the table and eat in front of him, his mouth just drools and his eyes are just fixed to our forks.  His favorite teething item is a pretzel.  This is just amazing to his momma because his big sis never has exhibited this love for food... maybe he is going to be our foodie.  Who knows?

This month Drew has been sleeping better, but still wakes up a couple nights a week.  He has started rolling over during the night, which always scares me when I walk into his room in the morning.  Any day he will be crawling and then it will be a whole new world for him.

He is starting to "play" with toys and loves Addie's Princess Dora and Snow Princess Dora.  I think a trip to the toy store will be in the near future to get some more "manly" toys for Drew.  Addie is quick to point out to Drew that those are "her" toys... the sibling squabbles have begun.

This is a reenactment...

Because when you find your child like this on the floor and you left him on the sofa. you do not go a get the camera for a picture.

The other day we were doing the nightly rituals around the house:  cleaning the kitchen, watching cartoons, throwing some clothes in the washing machine... you get the picture.  Addie and Drew were in the playroom sitting on the sofa.  A very cute picture of sweetness that I hope continues for years to come.  Addie comes to me and asks for some help finding what else... a Polly Pocket purse!  Do you know how small that item is?
So I am off to find the tiniest purse on the face of the earth.  I check on Drew and he is on the sofa playing with his paci and rattle.  All is good in his world.  Addie and I go upstairs find the purse and in about two minutes we are back downstairs.  Addie runs back to the sofa and I take some things into the kitchen.  When I walk into the playroom, Addie is on the sofa playing with the Polly friends and Drew is on the floor!

I walk into the living room where Kyle is sitting watching TV and ask,
"Why did you put Drew on the floor in the playroom and leave?"
Kyle's reply, "I didn't."
We ask Addie, "Did you pick up Drew and put him on the floor?"
Her reply, "I didn't do it."
(I am sure that will NOT be the last time we hear that statement.)

So needless to say, Drew is mobile now.
He fell off the sofa and did not cry, whimper, or scream.

Coffee, Bubbles, Swing Sets, and More...

How do I love the "last day" of Summer? Let me count the ways...
Babies slept till 7:15, hubby made breakfast while I took Addie to get doughnuts, drank coffee on the front porch while Addie chased bubbles and Drew laid in the swing beside me, did a few chores around the house, painted a ladybug with Addie, read My Lucky Day to Addie, went to the lake for a three mile walk and fed the ducks, watched Julie and Julia while I worked on clothes for the consignment sale, hubby grilled some yum mo chicken for dinner, and Drew got in his swing for the first time.

Labor Day for this momma was pure delight!  Not filled with a lot of frills or pizazz just some really simple things and I am forever grateful.

Our Little Vols...

To kick off the football season, Kyle and I headed up to East Tennessee to take in the home opener for the University of Tennessee.  This is sort of an annual tradition for Kyle and me but this year we added a few new passengers to the mix.  Two very special babes...

Our little VOLS came along for the ride to see a lot of "news" up on the hill.  A new coach, for the second year in a row...grrrr, a new stadium, and a new team.  Addie was a little confused about the whole football game.  She thought we were going two blocks from our house to the high school game.  She kept on asking,"Are all of my friends going to come and play?" Yes, my daughter is a social butterfly already... why else does a girl go to a football game?
I think she finally got the concept when we reached the Crossville exit on I-40 and said, "Are we at the stadium yet?"  Kyle and I had a great time taking Addie and Drew around the hill before the game and watching Addie run around in the grass.  I do wish I could have recorded the comments we over heard about having a five month old and a three year old at a football game.

Addie walking up "The Hill"

Another UT pic to add to the collection.

Addie chasing a dragonfly and doing her best Peyton Manning impression.

Holding Daddy's hand and making our way to the Stadium.

Drew took it all in and was quite the ladies man in his checkerboard overalls.

Mr. Bear even made it into the stadium.  I am amazed they did not make him have a ticket.  He was our third child for the day because every five minutes we would ask, "Do you have Mr. Bear?"  "Where is Mr. Bear?"

The Pride of the Southland Marching Band soothed Baby Drew to sleep during halftime.

What a game... UTK 50 UTM 0

Go Big Orange!!!!

And Here He Is Mr. Commissioner...

He has taken his oath... he has received his certificate...

now let the fun times begin.
