Look what I can do...

This just goes to show what a 17 lbs and 11 oz baby boy will do for food... he will hold his own bottle.

Now if you look closely you will see that Drew is getting a little help from his friend Mr. Giraffe but still I think this child will be an eater.

Feed Me!!!!

My little boy (and when I say little I am referencing his age only)
started eating rice cereal this week.

Of course this event was a family affair with Addie wanting to help, daddy looking at his boy child praying he will like food unlike the girl, and mommy with her camera of course. Drew was a good sport letting Addie tickle his tonsils with the spoon until she thought of the idea to get her baby doll.

All I can say... Drew is going to make up for Addie.

A year of lessons learned...

Well my year of being just a mommy has come to a close as of today. Tomorrow I will be up and at it getting my two babies out the door so I can help teach and train a class full of five year olds. Oh how I loved my year "off".  The morning walks with Addie in the fall.  Eating breakfast at the table and not having to look at the clock.  If we wanted homemade pancakes well we made them.  Getting to drop off Addie at school this could be considered the ugly part of staying home.  Play dates and coffee with friends @ 10am.  Library trips, recycling drop offs, and trips to the park.  Morning workouts.  Going to the store on Tuesday mornings when nobody was there.   I will never forget the sweet times I was able to share with Addie during this time off. The potty training, the breakfast chats, walks in the neighborhood.  The tempertatums and tears were ugly but were well worth it.  This "year off" was all part of a plan... a plan I thought I made but now I know the God was the one making it for me.   It is the little things that make a person happy as they grow... like having the opportunity to be "sick" during my pregnancy and not having to worry about what the kindergarteners are doing in the classroom while I dry heave in the bathroom.  Not having to worry about lesson plans for a maternity leave or what the sub is going to do to the children That I am paid to teach but always grow to love.  Then my world was filled with yet other reason to love staying at home.  My little boy is such a joy. Nothing is better than snuggle time with Drew after he has nursed at 5 in the morning.  The glow of the tv and the smell of coffee flowing through the house.

These are a few of my favorite things.

Oh how I wish I could cut myself in half and be at two places at the same time. I really love teaching.  Seeing the spark of a child learn the sounds of ABCs, reading to a crowd of children from my "cheetah" chair, getting through the first weeks of tears and getting to the hugs. But I love being at home with my children too.  I guess this is the debate that goes through every mother's head. But nothing is better than the moment you see your child after a day of being away... the smirk of a four month old.... the running feet of a three year old.
Quality over quantity is what I hope matters.
This is what I have learned in a year.

The Best Birthday Weekend...

This weekend we got to celebrate two of our favorite grandparents' birthdays. LiLi and Poppy turned another year wiser and we were happy to celebrate. After all butter cream icing and cake were involved and those are Addie's favorite words and food groups.

Strawberry cake from Sperry's in Nashville.
All I can say in YUMMY!!!!

Addie is not impressed with our rendition of Happy Birthday for Poppy's wish.

Four Months...

Today I turn four months old! Time is flying by and I am getting so big. I have gotten to do a lot of new things this month. I am sitting in my little Bebe Pod. This helps my muscles get strong so hopefully I will sit by myself soon. I LOVE to sit on the counter in the kitchen and help wash dishes and cook. The big people at the house have to watch me in this seat because I like to wiggle and kick my legs up. They do not know it yet but I am going to break out of this seat pretty soon. I also rolled over from my belly to my back this month. I will go to the doctor in two weeks but my mom says I am about 17 pounds. That little girl that also lives here likes to call me Big Boy but I really don't know what they are talking about. I am not big... just husky. I got the chance to see the beach for the first time and loved it. The sounds just soothed me to sleep most days. Speaking of sleep, I am cutting my mommy a break because I am starting to sleep through the night more. Mommy puts me in my crib around 9:30 pm and I let her sleep till around 5:30 am. I thought that would be nice since she is going back to school next week. I also got to meet a great lady named Granny Franny who is going to keep me while mommy is a school. This month I get to start eating some FOOD!!! I cannot wait. I just lick my lips when people eat in front of me but they all say I am too little. This has been a great month and I cannot wait to see what I get to do next month.

Wordless Wednesday...

Making Memories...

With every passing beach vacation, I am amazed at how are little family changes. This year we added Baby Drew to the mix which made Addie appear like a "big" kid on the beach. Our travels were great getting to the beach. The kids were great... no whining, no tears, no tantrums. We ate snacks, played "name the cartoon character" with Addie, looked for letters, looked for shapes, listened to music, and three of us slept
(sorry Kyle). These are some of the best times because getting there is half the fun right?

Addie is ready to hit the beach... to bad we have eight hours till we get there.

Our traditional pit stop to see the rocket ship in Huntsville.
Kyle told Addie the Little Einsteins were inside but
she quickly pointed out to him that their rocket is red.

Drew chilling in the backseat just waiting to see the beach for the first time.

Addie entertaining us and herself.

Since we traveled on July 4th, we were excited to see the fireworks show @ Seaside when we got there. We got ice cream and did a little shopping on the circle while we waited for the stars to come out and the fireworks to start. Addie also entertained us with her Dora pirate song and dance. Did you know that a picnic table with an umbrella is a pirate ship?

Addie was very shocked when the fireworks started.

Drew did not enjoy the noise but the sparkle of the fireworks mesmerized him.

Drew's first day at the beach.
He did a great job and didn't seem to mind his mild sunburn he received.
I think he likes the built in sound machine of the waves because he slept a lot.

Addie loved playing in the sand this year. In the years past she would sit on her chair and play in the buckets but HATED the sand on her toes. This year she brought her Dora friends to the beach. She made ships, castles, and mountains out of the sand for her "friends" to play on. Kyle and I kept reminding Addie to keep the toys away from the water so the waves would not get them. Did Addie listen to our warnings? If you know Addie at all you will be able to answer this question...No!!
Addie took Tico the Squirrel down to the water in a toy boat....

This was Addie's face when her toy "Tico the Squirrel" from Dora went into the ocean.
Luckily Tico was only in ankle deep water and we were able to save him.

Our toes are in the sand...

Addie's other passion this year at the beach... finding seashells. She would carry her red bucket up and down the beach trying to find seashells. The only thing is that at Seaside there are not any big seashells just little ones the size of a fingernail. So we were a little scared when Addie told us, "I am going to fill up my bucket to the top with shells."
Luckily we went to Panama City Beach and were able to fill the bucket to the top.

Kyle and Drew enjoying our walk down the beach.

Taking a break on our beach walk in the sand castle. One of my favorite nights on our vacation was when we took dinner down to the beach and stayed till sunset.
We loved watching the crabs come out.

Daddy telling stories on the beach.
Addie's favorite story is about Princess Aubree, Princess Addie, and the big Castle.

Drew doing what he loves at the beach...

You just have to love these two...

Beach Pics... My Favorite Thing About Our Vacation!

After six days of fun in the sun waves, we finally cleaned up and headed down to the beach for some dressy beach pics. This is always fun... for me! I have said it once and I will say it again picture taking with Addie is always an adventure and you have to be fast on your shutter finger to catch a smile with this kid. Now put a three month old into the mix for double the fun. This year I coaxed Addie down to the beach in a dress with the hopes of finding mermaid treasure. Needless to say, we will probably be looking for the treasure for years to come.
After all, Addie does have the memory of an elephant.

Addie's sunflower she picked walking to the beach.

Oh how they look alike... let me count the ways!

Of course I waited till the last night to take pictures and the wind was terrible.
We trusted Addie to hold Drew for a few kid pics.
Drew's face says it all... "Please don't let me do a face plant in the sand."

My token back shot... I love them.

This is one of my faves. I was trying to get my hair out of my face and Kyle took the picture. Way to go my love!
