Let the Summer Fun Begin!!

Our summertime fun has begun and it all started because of this special little guy.

We went to our "country club" aka Kevin and Heather's pool for Knox's first birthday bash.  We all had a great time celebrating this little guy's special day.  He had to be the happiest one year old but that is really not different from any other day.
Knox is the happiest baby in the world.

As for Addie Reese, she picked up right where she left off last summer in the pool.

She is kicking those legs pretending to be Arial, The Little Mermaid, throwing toys in the water to swim after, trying to hold her breath, and she is putting her head under water.
She also is jumping of the side of the pool but still thinks she needs to hold my hand.  We definitely do not have to worry about a fear of water at this point with Addie Reese.
She is our fearless Little Mermaid!!

As for Drew, this is what he looks like after a day at the pool.

Drew has not sported the swimming trunks yet, but his time is coming... maybe by July.

Look! I am two months old...

How can my sweet, newborn little boy go from this...

to this in just two months?

Sometimes I just think life is not fair.  Just when you start... and I pull heavy emphasis on start... to come out of the postpartum, newborn mommy fog, you start to realize that your newborn is not so new.
Mr. Drew is growing so fast and gaining a lot of new rolls around his legs and tummy.  He is filling out his three month clothes and those stage 1 diapers are about to become stage 2.   He is starting to smile (and not just from his little poots) and I think his favorite person is his mommy.  No bias from this blogger of course.  Drew still loves to look at lights and has also taken a liking to balloons.  He still does not like his car seat but is getting better.  He is starting to get on a schedule of three naps a day and sleeping at night for about 5 hour stretches.  Last night, his momma booted him to the upstairs to sleep in his crib.  Drew did a great job.  No screams, no revolts, no battles... just an hour of grunts coming from my baby boy.

Some other highlights and events from month 2...
He went to his first birthday party @ Casa de Peva for Miss Kate.
He went to Lexington to visit Nene, Poppy, and a lot of others.
Celebrated his mommy's 30th birthday and Mother's Day.
Found out that he will have a boy cousin to play with in October.
* Dr. stats will come later.  Drew is not going for his checkup until June 3rd.

Last Day of School...

Look how far I have come...

First Day of Mother's Day Out
August 18th, 2009

Last Day of Mother's Day Out
May 12th, 2010

My little girl has grown up a lot this year... even though she is wearing the same shorts on her last day of school that she wore on her first!
Addie has become a three year old with independence.  The little girl who had to be carried in for the first four months of school and cried for her mommy can now walk in and say goodbye. Her teachers tell me she is good at remembering details and will always hold the door for you.  They also said that she can hold her own in a class of seven boys and two girls and likes to share most of the time.  Even though her stubbornness and strong-willed personality makes me want to pull out my hair and scream most days, I guess their are worse things I could be praying and thinking about.

For the kids last day, Ms. Kelly and Ms. Callie planned a picnic for them.  It was nice getting to go and see Addie play with all of her friends.  I was so proud of her because usually when I am around she would cling to my leg, not play with her classmates,  or say "I want to go home."  But not this day.  She talked about her friends, played with her friends, and I got to watch and take pictures of her big last day.  For this momma that was big!

Addie and friends playing with the bubbles.

She really has come a long way and I can only wait to see the places she will go from here...

Blessed...

A mother holds her children's hands for a while,
their hearts forever.
Yesterday was a truly great day for me as a woman. Being a momma, now for two little people, is a dream come true.  What a great gift from my God ,not to mention a great task, I get to raise and train these two precious people.   One moment I want to pull my hair out and then the next I just want to push pause to capture the moment.  The ups and downs of parenthood is a great ride that I would not trade for anything in the world.  In the past three years, I have learned a lot... I can tell you the line up on Nick, Disney, or PBS, I have memorized the words to countless songs and children's books, I now say "I have to go potty", that it is now okay to sit "criss-cross applesauce" at the table, that a staircase can be a pirate ship... a stage... or a zoo.  All little special moments that only a parent can understand as special.  Even though I do not get as much me time... Kyle and I do not "dine" as much.... Kyle and I will go to the store at 9pm to avoid taking a preschooler...movie time has been pushed aside for an earlier bed time... I would not trade my two miracles for anything in the world.   So yesterday as I was "celebrated" for Mother's Day, I really do appreciate and understand the blessed gifts my God has given me.

And where would I be without my mommy... our LiLi!  She gave up so much to raised me and has taught me so much in thirty years about being a mother.  She loves me so much and continues to share that love with my children.  Thanks for everything you do for us.
