1st day of kindergarten...

We have officially entered the world of a school aged child.  It is just hard to wrap my head around the fact that we have a kindergartner in the house!  And I am not really sad about it, well maybe just a little bit.  But it is a whole new world and I cannot wait to see Addie grow and learn this year... just across the hall from me.

The night before school, we read Kinderella and The Night Before Kindergarten.  We picked out our clothes (Addie wanted to wear a dress, leggings, flip-flops, and headband), placed our lunch order, and decorated our supply box.

Addie on her first of 3 year old preschool...

Addie on her first day of 4 year old preschool...

And finally the big kid school... Is it just me or is the backpack getting smaller?

Drew wanted to be in on the action and probably was thinking to himself,
"What is the big deal about today?"

The whole fab 4 went to school early to drop of Addie.  Kyle said his 33rd birthday had a kick in the gut since he had to drop of Addie on the same day.

Can you tell she is a little bit comfortable going to school?
The kindergarten diva has arrived...

I cannot tell you how strange it is to walk by a classroom door and see YOUR child's name on the roll...  she still seems so small in my mind.

Addie walked in the room just like a big kid.
Janessa had gotten out the doll house for her... since it was her favorite thing at open house.

One perk to working at school...
I get to see her at lunch!

Her day was great and mine was too.
Gotta love the little love notes on my board.

Addie's work from the first day...
She colored her bear so that it would look like Mr. Bear.  She told Ms. Janessa that Mr. Bear's favorite place to go was the cabin in the mountains but her favorite place to go was Chattanooga.
Oh the stories Ms. Janessa will get to hear this year.

(even painted her BANEBOW and glitter flip-flops)

So it is time to face the facts that this little baby of mine is growing up.  I find it hard buying new clothes for her because I do not want to leave the toddler/preschool section of the store.  She is getting taller by the minute but I can still remember when she fit snug under my chin upon my chest.  Her little fingers are busy drawing Rapunzel and her name for her Kindergarten test but I can still remember them wrapped around my fingers and a bottle.  Time slips away... but I would not change a thing about my little girl.

  2. What a great first day at school - I can't believe she is starting - I remember when you first started school!! She looks adorable and so does her shrinking backpack! I love reading your blog and keeping up with our wonderful family. Say "Hi" to Linda & John.
