Look! I am two months old...

How can my sweet, newborn little boy go from this...

to this in just two months?

Sometimes I just think life is not fair.  Just when you start... and I pull heavy emphasis on start... to come out of the postpartum, newborn mommy fog, you start to realize that your newborn is not so new.
Mr. Drew is growing so fast and gaining a lot of new rolls around his legs and tummy.  He is filling out his three month clothes and those stage 1 diapers are about to become stage 2.   He is starting to smile (and not just from his little poots) and I think his favorite person is his mommy.  No bias from this blogger of course.  Drew still loves to look at lights and has also taken a liking to balloons.  He still does not like his car seat but is getting better.  He is starting to get on a schedule of three naps a day and sleeping at night for about 5 hour stretches.  Last night, his momma booted him to the upstairs to sleep in his crib.  Drew did a great job.  No screams, no revolts, no battles... just an hour of grunts coming from my baby boy.

Some other highlights and events from month 2...
He went to his first birthday party @ Casa de Peva for Miss Kate.
He went to Lexington to visit Nene, Poppy, and a lot of others.
Celebrated his mommy's 30th birthday and Mother's Day.
Found out that he will have a boy cousin to play with in October.
* Dr. stats will come later.  Drew is not going for his checkup until June 3rd.

Last Day of School...

Look how far I have come...

First Day of Mother's Day Out
August 18th, 2009

Last Day of Mother's Day Out
May 12th, 2010

My little girl has grown up a lot this year... even though she is wearing the same shorts on her last day of school that she wore on her first!
Addie has become a three year old with independence.  The little girl who had to be carried in for the first four months of school and cried for her mommy can now walk in and say goodbye. Her teachers tell me she is good at remembering details and will always hold the door for you.  They also said that she can hold her own in a class of seven boys and two girls and likes to share most of the time.  Even though her stubbornness and strong-willed personality makes me want to pull out my hair and scream most days, I guess their are worse things I could be praying and thinking about.

For the kids last day, Ms. Kelly and Ms. Callie planned a picnic for them.  It was nice getting to go and see Addie play with all of her friends.  I was so proud of her because usually when I am around she would cling to my leg, not play with her classmates,  or say "I want to go home."  But not this day.  She talked about her friends, played with her friends, and I got to watch and take pictures of her big last day.  For this momma that was big!

Addie and friends playing with the bubbles.

She really has come a long way and I can only wait to see the places she will go from here...

Blessed...

A mother holds her children's hands for a while,
their hearts forever.
Yesterday was a truly great day for me as a woman. Being a momma, now for two little people, is a dream come true.  What a great gift from my God ,not to mention a great task, I get to raise and train these two precious people.   One moment I want to pull my hair out and then the next I just want to push pause to capture the moment.  The ups and downs of parenthood is a great ride that I would not trade for anything in the world.  In the past three years, I have learned a lot... I can tell you the line up on Nick, Disney, or PBS, I have memorized the words to countless songs and children's books, I now say "I have to go potty", that it is now okay to sit "criss-cross applesauce" at the table, that a staircase can be a pirate ship... a stage... or a zoo.  All little special moments that only a parent can understand as special.  Even though I do not get as much me time... Kyle and I do not "dine" as much.... Kyle and I will go to the store at 9pm to avoid taking a preschooler...movie time has been pushed aside for an earlier bed time... I would not trade my two miracles for anything in the world.   So yesterday as I was "celebrated" for Mother's Day, I really do appreciate and understand the blessed gifts my God has given me.

And where would I be without my mommy... our LiLi!  She gave up so much to raised me and has taught me so much in thirty years about being a mother.  She loves me so much and continues to share that love with my children.  Thanks for everything you do for us.

You Are My Sunshine...

This is Addie's art/science project from school this week.
After three weeks of being out of school (two weeks for spring break and one week for stomach virus)
she was happy to be back.
Last week's quote of the day..."Mommy I don't want to go to school today."
This was stated @ 11:30 when school is out at 12:45.

Addie's favorite hang out spot... the blue swing.

"Mommy I am going real high.  I am going to go into that tree... with the birds."

Our little Miss Sunshine has fully embraced the life of a big sister and knows how to milk every second of freedom from life with a sibling.  With days getting longer and spring in the air who could blame a three year old for wanting to go outside to her playground.  She will pull anyone who is at our house outside to push her high into the sky...
just don't push her "clooked" (aka crooked).

  • He can drink from a bottle without spilling a drop.
  • He weighs around 10 pounds and is out of his newborn clothes and diapers.

Easter Sunday...

The Sanders 4 had a wonderful Easter Sunday complete with our first post baby church visit to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord.  We were able to make it to the early service since Drew woke up at 5:30 that morning... I am starting to remember how much I loved sleeping in till 7:30!  I know we will get there again someday.  Everybody loved meeting Drew and I loved getting out of the house.  After church we came home and discovered a trail of Easter eggs that were left while we were at church. Addie was so excited to see the Easter Bunny had visited our front porch.  After the baskets were opened, we relaxed before heading out to Franklin for Easter Dinner at Jason and Kelli's.  Here are the highlight pics from our Sunday...

Addie looking for Easter Eggs.

She found one!

Drew just taking it all in and cuddling with his bunny.

How long will it last?

My First Two Weeks...

Well I have been on this Earth for two weeks now and boy have I been busy!

I have discovered that my favorite place to be is in my pack 'n play next to the window.
I love the morning sunshine and looking out the window.

I also like to cuddle up in my boppy on the sofa.  Mommy calls it my easy chair.

Daddy gets in on the action too!

I get lots of kisses and cuddles from this lady.

My great aunt Rita came to visit me along with a whole lot of other people.

I had my first "bath" at home.  My big sister Addie helped my parents out but I think she got more soap on the floor than on me.

Maybe my little "stump" as my mommy calls it will fall off soon so I can take a real bath.

This little girl keeps telling me to open my eyes and wake up all the time.
I am getting really good at ignoring her already.

Got Milk?
My Daddy finally got to give me a drink and mommy is happy to have a break.

I went to church for Easter Services and had a bunny visit my house.

My Mommy and Daddy also took me to the doctor to see how much I have grown in my first two weeks and they were shocked.  At birth I weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces and measured 19 inches long.  At two weeks I weigh 9 pounds 4 ounces and measured 20.75 inches long.
Not to bad for two weeks of living.

Other notable happenings:
I have peed on daddy two times... still being nice to mommy.
I sleep in my pack 'n play at night for about 3 hours at a time.
I can hold my head up for about 10 seconds when on my tummy.
I like to go outside in the spring sunshine.
I do not like my swing... maybe that will change.
