Ordinary {Summer} Days....

We are in week three of summer vacation and we are loving life.  We have been sleeping in... playing with friends... swimming A LOT.... and just having FUN!!!!

Me and my little shadow...

Drew hanging with Aunt Kristen...

Drew loves hanging BY the pool not IN the pool.  He is a lot more reserved around the water compared to Addie at 2.  He takes about 2 hours to warm up to the pool but it is getting better each time we visit a pool.

Our Little Mermaid
Addie loves the water and cannot get enough most days.  She just jumps off the diving board and swims to the side really well.  Sometimes she forgets to use her arms to stroke but she is getting really good.

We spend most mornings outside playing and watering the flowers.
Drew loves this chore.

This was a fun art project that the kids loved...

Addie painted a flower...

We went to the zoo with Kelli and Hayden.
It was unusually cool a few weeks ago and we seized the opportunity.

Addie and Drew with the gators.
Addie said, "These are on that show daddy likes."
Her little shout out to Swamp People.

I never thought I would see the day when Addie would be the one looking at the camera.
Just look at those boys being boys!

The zoo is running an exhibit called "Dino Track"  We bought tickets last time we were at the zoo but could not use them because a storm rolled in and we had to leave.  So we did the Track this visit and my children are not Dino lovers yet.  Drew would just shake his head and say "NO... NO"  and Addie hid under the shade of the stroller.  However, Addie did like the baby dinosaurs hatching out of the eggs.  If I recall correctly she stated, " Oh they look so cute, don't they mommy.  Now lets go!"

Drew liking but not loving the carousal ride and Hayden on his first ride.

King Drew on his throne

And finally it is that time... the potty training dairies have begun.
Drew as pee-peed in the potty for Granny Franny many times, but gets a little shy for us at the homestead.  He is getting better about not crying when I put him on the potty but that is about all.  He likes to pee in the shower but no where else.  Truth be told, I really did not want to start this month pushing the potty due to VBS, Swim lessons, and beach vacation... who wants to travel with that in the back of their mind to Florida????

Over the Rainbow and the Purple People Eater...

Addie's Dance recital was an absolute blast.  She was so excited about her costumes, the make-up, the hair, and the fact that everybody in her "family" was coming to watch her.  She sat in the "make-up chair" aka our love seat while I tried to curl her hair (a can of hair spray later and not really curly... maybe I need to watch Toddlers and Tiaras to get some tips) and
put on the little bit of makeup for the day.
Of course we had a photo shoot before we left...

Addie giving me a little bit of attitude for the camera.

Trying to find some shade so Addie could open her eyes...

We came back inside to wait for the clouds to come in...

Love the eyelashes...

Love the flowers...

Love the tutu...

Love this face...

And this face...

And of course this one...

Back stage with the other girls watching the 12:00 show...

Addie with Anna Claire, Ms. Amy's helper. Anna Claire was Dorothy in the ballet number Over the Rainbow.  I think Ms. Amy is brilliant to place a "big" girl in the program to help wrangle 4 and 5 year olds on stage.

Addie loves Anna Claire.

The performance...

This year, Ms. Amy let Addie's class do their Purple People Eater number.  The class usually performs this number at Halloween, but they are just so cute, I think Amy could not resist putting them on stage two times.

"It looks like a purple people eater to me!"

Addie with her teacher, Ms. Amy.

Our Tiny Dancer...

Addie and her entourage...
*Drew was having a great time with our friends bowling and playing outside during the dance recital.  I do not want to subject him to the torture of going to the dance recitals like my brother did for 14 years... we might start next year:)
